Class II Trailer Hitch Availability for 2007 Saab 9-3

Question:

Hey there. Im looking for a class II hitch for my 2007 Saab 93. So far no luck despite the fact that the manufacturer specifies max trailer weight of 3500 lbs with trailer breaks. Thanks.

We do offer the Curt # C11326 for the 2007 Saab 9-3, including the sedan and convertible. This is a fit unless it has dual-exhaust or a SportCombi model.

However, this is a light-duty Class I hitche. We offer no Class II hitches for your vehicle.

To a degree the development of hitches for vehicles will be based on the vehicle's capacity, in your case a quoted 3500-lb towing capacity. Certainly, a vehicle with such towing capacity would seem to merit a Class II hitch option. Unfortunately, the other factor is commercial potential. It may simply be that there were not enough of the 2007 model year 9-3 imported to the U.S. to give hitch makers enough sales volume potential to justify developing a higher-capacity Class II hitch for this vehicle.

Please note that a Class I hitch is limited to 2000-lbs maximum towing capacity and 200-lbs tongue weight. At right I have linked two articles and a video to assist you in the installation process. You will need one specialized tool - a torque wrench - to install the hitch, along with other basic hand tools.

If you do decide to tow you will need a wiring harness # C59496 (for the sedan, convertible or dual exhaust Sport). For a ball mount use # C45521. For a 1-7/8-inch hitch ball use # A-80; for a 2-inch use # A-82.

If you will use accessory items like a bike or cargo carrier you will need to choose a compatible Class I item. Only 2 bikes can be carried on a Class I hitch. Links are provided for compatible bike and cargo carriers.
