Whereas belt-driven fans use up power from the engine to turn, electric fans do not, thus removing any unnecessary load and increasing both fuel economy and horsepower. In addition, you do not have to worry about an electric fan's slowing down at low RPM, as many belt-driven fans do, so you are guaranteed sufficient airflow regardless of the vehicle speed.

While this assembly is intended for primary cooling and should, therefore, provide enough CFM to replace your vehicle's factory fan, you will still need to determine the CFM requirements for your engine before making your purchase. And remember, engines that have been modified or vehicles often used for towing may require additional CFM. There is no limit to the number of fans you can install, as long they all fit appropriately and are mounted on the same side of your radiator so that they do not cancel each other out.

Two types of turn-on sources are available for this fan. The Derale Lighted On/Off Switch for Electric Fans (D16740) allows for manual control of your fan so that you can choose when to turn it on and off. Thermostatic controls, on the other hand, send a signal to the fan, directing it to shut off when fluid temperatures reach an appropriate level, thus saving power. Once the temperature climbs again and additional cooling is needed, the fan is automatically turned back on. Thermostat switches can be single-stage with pre-set temperatures - D16735, D16738, D16739, D16720 and D16721 - or adjustable - D16778 and D16779.

  • Powered Fans to Correct Cooling Issue with 427 Big Block in 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS
For the sake of your really outstanding vehicle I want to suggest that first you investigate whether there is any issue with your coolant/water pump that could be causing the engine to run hot. A dual-fan set up with aluminum radiator should do a pretty good job of cooling even a big block 427. We can certainly help you with new cooling fans but if there is some other underlying issue involved that would best be squared away first. If there is an internal cooling problem then new supplementary...

  • Electric Radiator Fan Recommendations for a 2008 Chrysler Aspen with 5.7L Engine
Is the fan set up currently on your 2008 Chrysler Aspen belt driven? In any event you will need to determine if it is pushing air or pulling air. The fans that you have referenced, # D16927, and # D16919 are for puller applications only. What I recommend is going with the most CFM that you can in a fan or fans that will fit in the space provided. You do not always have to remove the factory set up in order to install an electric fan. You just have to make sure that the aftermarket fan is...

Dual fans have a few advantages of single fans. They cover a wider portion of the radiator so they can effectively cool more surface area that a single fan that moves the same amount of air, there is basically a back up fan if one would have an issue, and there is more fan speed variation allowed. • Will an Electric Fan Help Keep a 1934 Plymouth Coupe with 350 Chevy Motor Cool
Having an electric fan that will run all the time should go a long way to reduce the heat produced by your 1934 Plymouth coupe. As long as the vehicle runs on a 12 volt system then an electric fan kit will work well for you. I know a lot of older vehicles used 6 volt systems and/or positive ground so an electric fan would not work with either or those. I recommend a fan that will move the most air.
