Removing Bent Dual Cam Sway Control From Trailer to Get Home
Question:
Im 2000 miles away from home and for whatever reason the passenger side sway cam arm and bracket are bending causing the weight distribution bar to ride on top of the lip of the cam. I rather get home with it to take it to the dealer that installed it. With that said would it be ok to remove the bad sway arm and connect the chain directly to the weight distribution bar? Would only be running with the driver side sway control. Or should I try to get it repaired/replaced before the drive back. The trailer is 38foot long and 5 tons. Thanks...

The easiest solution for you to get home (as long as you have the capacity) would be to remove the spring bars of the system and take it easy till you get home and then have it repaired.
However, since you are 2,000 miles away I would recommend you remove the dual cam system from both sides and then attach the chains directly to your spring bars that way you still have the weight distribution system functioning.
It could be that the dual cam system is out of adjustment on the bad side and needs to be setup properly.
