Wiring In A Tekonsha Prodigy RF And Mighty Cord 4-To-7 Pin Adapter

Question:

My question is in regards to the Mighty Cord 4-to-7 pin adapter part A10-7084VP I have a Prodigy RF remote controlled Electronic Brake Controller installed on my trailer. The Prodigy has a 7-pin connector. My tow vehicle has a 4-pin flat for brake/turn lights. Since the Prodigy enables braking either by a Bluetooth connection to its remote handheld unit OR by means of an internal accelerometer, no control wire from a dash mounted brake controller is needed. If I were to connect the 7-pin from the Prodigy to the 4-pin flat of the tow vehicle with the Mighty Cord 4-to-7 pin adapter will power circuit from the 4-pin flat connector provide power to the brake circuit of the Prodigy.

Hey Randy.

You can install the Mighty Cord Trailer Connector Adapter # A10-7084VP and cap off the blue brake controller output wire with some electrical tape since the Prodigy RF will not be connecting to it. This system detects deceleration and activates the brakes accordingly and the remote gives you the ability to read errors and manually activate the brakes.

The yellow wire on the # A10-7084VP can also be capped off with some electrical tape unless you need a reverse light signal. The white wire will need to be grounded to the vehicle frame and the 4-pole wire connector can be plugged into your vehicle's 4-pole connector if you have one. If not, you can use part # C59496 (hybrid) or # 118467 (non-hybrid). The black wire will need to be ran up to the battery with a 40 amp circuit breaker # 9510 and 10AWG wire # 10-1-1 for auxiliary power for the Prodigy RF.
