Installing ETBC7L And Curt Echo Wireless On A 2024 Subaru Crosstrek

Question:

I saw this question on your website. At the end it says the yellow wire is connected to the reverse light circuit. I have a 2024 subaru crosstrek and Im going to buy the Echo bluetooth brake controller so I dont need to hook up the blue wire. But Im wondering where the reverse light circuit is in the crosstrek that I need to be connecting to? Am I connecting a bare wire and splicing it in or is there an official place where it is connected? Im hoping you have a video for this connection because the video for connecting the 7 way is very helpful but they dont show how to connect the yellow wire. Thanks, Paul. Heres the question from your website: I am almost finished installing the 7-way Connector on a 2014 Audi Q5 and need help finishing to tow a TT with electric brakes. It is connected to the 4-way “lights kit”, with the white wire ran to ground, black wire ran to 30 Amp fuse then battery, leaving the yellow reverse wire and blue brake wire needing connection to their proper places. Each install video for the 7-way wiring kit shows the blue and yellow wires being “taped off” and not used. The specific video for my car shows the same. I have a brake controller with the proper adapter to “plug and play” behind my dash panel. Can you help me find the proper place to run these remaining wires? Thanks in advance! asked by: Bryce Expert Reply: If you have a vehicle specific wiring harness for a brake controller then that would indicate that you have a factory tow package and subsequently would already have a 7-way at the back of your vehicle. The universal 7-way connector # ETBC7 is meant to be used on vehicles that dont have an existing 7-way and need to add one. However if you were adding a 7-way then youd need to route the blue wire to the output on your brake controller, and run the yellow wire to the reverse light circuit. If youre trying to convey something different let me know and Id be happy to help.

If you intend to use the # ETBC7L kit with the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller # C51180, you do not need to connect the yellow wire at all. All you will need to do is run the single black wire that comes with the kit from the black wire on the back of the 7-way up to the vehicle's battery with a circuit breaker in between and then ground the white wire from the back of the 7-way to a bare metal surface anywhere on the frame. The remaining blue and yellow wires can just be taped up and left unhooked.

Take a look at the install video I have linked below. This is on a 2020 Subaru Outback and it will be very similar to your install.
