Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a quick look at the replacement Hehr-style window latch. This is going to be for double pane windows, and it's going to help you get that window closed and then open it up when you want to. So we'll get our keeper. That's going to kind of be the place where our little tab is going to rest against, so it's going to keep everything closed.
Whenever we want to open up that window. And just snap that lever over to the side, and then we can open up our window there.We get the hardware to mount this in place, so it's going to be a nice replacement for that OEM style window latch. As far as the sizing, we'll give you some measurements. So, the overall length for both our brackets is about two and seven eighths inches long.The base here is about thirteen sixteenths of an inch wide, or just over three quarters of an inch wide. The height is about a half inch, if we don't count that tab.
If we do include that tab in the width, it goes out by about two inches. And then that tab is about nine sixteenths of an inch wide, so plenty of room to get your thumb on there and flip that open or closed. Or flip it from lock to unlock, I should say.Then our other smaller bracket, again measures two and seven eighths inch by about five sixteenths of an inch. And it sits up about seven sixteenths of an inch from the mounting surface to the top of that little ridge there. Again, it does come with the mounting hardware, so we'll get our four flat head screws to drop in place.
It looks nice, matches with the rest of our finish. So it should be everything you needed to get that Hehr-style window latch replaced.That's pretty much going to do it for our look at the Hehr-style window latch for double pane windows. Replaces the Hehr-style OEM window latch for double-pane windows in your RV.I've attached photos of a completed installation on a Snugtop camper shell with a flip down window. I used stainless steel screws of my own as the screws included with the package were so cheap they twisted in half with just a small amount of applied torque. I don't know how long this item will last but I'll be finding that out. I'll give the item 4 stars because of the screws and out of optimism that it'll last longer than the trash Snugtop uses.
I'm really happy to have found this part to replace the factory worn-out latch on my Snug Top topper. I removed the originals and replaced them easily with the new ones which now keep my window from rattling. Perfect!
The SnugTop shell on up my pickup uses this type of latch for the hinged drop down window next to the cab. These were a perfect replacement for the original ones that had worn out and were easy to install.
