Recommended High Capacity Hitch and Dual Ball Mount for a 2003 Bluebird Bus

Question:

I would like to buy a Class 4 or 5 hitch to fit my 2003 Bluebird bus. The frame is 27.5” at the insides of the frame rails. I like your torquelift superhitch magnum because it allows for a bike rack and a trailer to be used simultaneously. Do you have anything that will fit my needs? Thank you

I have a solution for adding a heavy duty hitch to your 2003 Bluebird bus but there aren't any TorkLift SuperHitches that will work because they are all custom fit. You will need to go with a universal option and the one I recommend is the Curt Class 5 Universal Weld-on Hitch w/ Brackets item # 15903.

This is a class V hitch with a 2" receiver. It has a 15,000 lbs towing capacity and a 1,500 lbs maximum tongue weight. This hitch must be welded on. There is no way to bolt it to your bus and get that high of a capacity out of it. The brackets fit frames from 18" - 60" so it will work great with your 27-1/2" frame.

If you are wanting a 2-1/2" hitch receiver, then you will need the Curt Class 5 item # C59CR.

Since you are a fan of having the ability to tow a trailer and use a bike rack at the same time, I recommend item # 325-GH-525 for a 2" receiver or item # 325-GH-625 and item # 325-GH-007 for a 2-1/2" receiver. These ball mounts can be used the same way the stacked receivers on the Torklift hitches work. They will also not reduce the capacity of the hitch.
