Where Does Front Mount Trailer Hitch 31302 Install on a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500LD
Question:
Does this hitch attach to the factory tow hook location? Is the hitch/attachment rated for continous vertical load? I have used these before and ended up tearing the frame open at the tow hook mounts on a 92 k1500, ended up cutting out and bolting/welding inside of frame to handle load

The Curt front mount trailer hitch # 31302 has 4 mounting locations. The 2 forward most mounting locations will use the tow hook mounting location (on vehicles equipped with tow hooks). I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view.
Provided you are within the capacities of the hitch at 500 pounds vertical load and 9,000 pounds line pull you should not have any frame failure like on your older truck. Honestly this is the first time I have heard of that happening.
