How to Raise a Trailer for More Ground Clearance

Question:

Just traded my 24ft for a 27ft Trail sport r-vision. The new trailer rides nearly a foot lower than the other. Anything I can do about this? This low of clearance will make it nearly impossible to park anywhere other than near level ground. Perfect model trailer for expanding family, just too low. :

There are a couple of things that you can do to get more ground clearance for your new trailer. First, if the leaf spring stack is attached under the axle then you could use an over/under conversion kit.

If the trailer has a 2-3/8 inch diameter round axle use # K71-384-00. If it has a 3 inch diameter round axle use # K71-385-00. This will move the leaf spring stack to the top of the axle and raise the trailer approximately the same amount as the axle diameter.

These kits will only work on trailers that have double-eye leaf springs and will not work on torsion axles.

The other option is to have the regular hangers removed and taller ones welded in their places by a qualified professional. You will need to make sure that each hanger increases the same amount. For example if the front hanger is 1 inch tall and the rear hanger is 2 inches tall then raising the trailer an additional inch would require a 2 inch front hanger and a 3 inch rear hanger. I have included a link to the hangers we carry.

Please note that raising the trailer will also raise its center of gravity and will make it more susceptible to sway.

I have a 2004 ATC 30 ft goosneck car hauler with a torsion style setup. Is any kit for raising this?

We do have a few lift kits available for select torsion axles, but they're pretty specific to the type and capacity. There should hopefully be a sticker/plate on the axle itself that lists its model and weight rating - would you be able to tell me this?
