Where is the Brake Switch to Install a Brake Controller on a 4300 International Truck
Question:
When installing the brake controller box , where is the brake switch located that i connect to.

Expert Reply:
The brake switch on a vehicle is typically located above the brake pedal or even attached higher up the pedal. There should be several wires going in and out of it. You need the wire that only has a signal when the brake pedal is pressed and not when the headlights or turn signals are on. You can use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to test the tires.
If you cannot locate the brake switch or the correct wire you can use the vehicle owner's manual to find the CHMSL (center high mount stop light) or stop light fuse and use a fuse tap to get the dedicated brake signal.
