Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Power Module

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

This wiring harness worked perfectly on our 2016 Dodge Caravan. The installation video provided everything we needed to know for an easy install.

This thing was absolutely plug and play. Installed on a 2013 Dodge Caravan. Used the trailer last week after it being installed for a year. Everything worked perfectly. Highly recommended.

SO PLEASED WITH THIS PRODUCT!!!!!

I
was a little apprehensive at first, since my van was new. After reading descriptions and reviews of other brands, I chose this one. I laid out everything, read and re-read the instructions, just to make sure. Installation was very easy! Dodge Caravans have cabin vents in the fender wells so you can run the wires through, to have the wires be protected and hidden. I did add some half-inch flex tubing for the underside wiring runs, for more protection, and some zip strips to hold it in place. Installing the yellow wire with the fuse holder went pretty easy too! This kit had enough slack to do the job right! After everything was in place, and the tail lights put back on, tested it and everything worked! Recently I replaced my trailer lights, from bulbs to LED's, and that also turned out great! Very bright too! Since the install last year, I have not ceased in telling everyone I know to go to ETrailer!!! Thanks!!!

2019 Dodge Grand Caravan

This is the 3rd or 4th time I have purchased a hitch and wiring from etrailer. I have never been disappointed by this company!

Yesterday I installed the hitch and wiring on my 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan GT. The hitch took a few more minutes than anticipated, only because the exhaust system resonator was in the way, more than expected. A minor delay.

Running the power wire to the battery always takes the most amount of time, if you do not have a lift. I just move slowly and tie-wrap it in several places so I know it will remain out of the way.

One year later and it still functions perfectly.

The side with the third bolt for my dodge caravan created a lot of extra work. When I removed that bolt, the body part underneath moved and it was a bear getting the bolt in. Both side should just have the two. Also one side came off when pulling a trailer. Should suggest lock tight at least on the jolts when installing. Third one I installed and the only one that had problems.

Received package and after watching online video of installation, able to get in done and all checked out in 2 hours. Plug and play was easy to do. Would recommend this product.

Just wanted to share my experience for others who may be interested. This is regarding Kit # 118534, T-one connector trailer wiring kit for Grand Caravan. Package arrived in about 3 days. No parts were missing from package. I consider myself very technically inclined, so installation was straight forward. I did look at the video on the etrailer.com web site, just to make sure there were no surprises. As expected, I had no issues with connections, wire length, or mounting the assembly into taillight housing on drivers side. Only difficulty for me was lack of garage to work in, and lack of floor jack to raise vehicle. If you have a floor jack, running and connecting battery wire will be a piece of cake. I had to lay on the ground and reach under vehicle to run the wire, and tie it into place along the way. Getting wire up to battery from underneath was simple using a coat hanger and tape. So, all in all I am happy with purchase, happy with installation, and I would recommend this kit for anyone using a trailer.

So far this wiring harness has worked perfectly. I love it. Takes about 20 minutes to install, and make sure the van is jacked up to make running the wire to the battery easier!

I ordered both a receiver hitch kit and 4 pole flat wiring kit for my 2018 Grand Caravan, hitch install in my driveway took 45 min and another hour for wiring kit install, all instructions for easy step by step install included, couldn't be happier with both products, fast delivery ahead of schedule.

Thanks for everything

The wiring harness fit exactly as expected. Good pricing.

easy to install. Backed a Dodge van up on ramps, used a jack to lift hitch into place. All bolt hose worked perfectly, and used torque wrench with extension and swivel joint to get to nuts to get recommended torque. The wiring went very well. Well please with the hitch.

Overall Great products at a reasonable price and well made.

Recieved in timely many. Just as decribed. Easy installation, works great.

Great service and great prices. Perfect instructions on hitch and wiring.

by:

Have not installed wiring harness yet. Don't use a trailer but once a year. Have looked at the harness and it appears to be nicely done. Might install it one day soon. Thank you.

by:

Not too difficult to install. I wish the safety chain loops were a different design as I can't pass my chain hooks through easily.

Worked perfectly, loved having the installation video.

Hitch was very easy to install once i was able to get the bolts out beings i live in Wisconsin and rust is an issue. Once the bolts were out it took minutes to install it.

2019 Dodge Grand Caravan

Purchased hitch, wiring package and J-pin for 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan. All parts came in on time and in good condition. Last time I did a hitch was 10 years ago so was kind of starting from scratch again. Hitch is heavy & clumsy for one person but managed to balance on a scissors jack, with "shims", and maneuver into position. Directions were clear but I removed the two rear exhaust hangers instead of just one to get better access, and I pulled the left rear tire off. Fit like a glove. Wiring pkg. easier to install than my prior one (less splicing) although I had to fiddle with the OEM plug a bit to figure out how to unlatch it. Had a little red piece of plastic, maybe a lock?, that had to be pushed back or removed to be able to squeeze and unlatch the plugs. Did not run the power wire to the battery. Have a 12 v. outlet on a rear door post and used my prior male plug-in to feed the trailer lights. Over-all went faster/easier than I expected. Have not tried the J-pin yet so don't know if it will quiet the hitch racket/noise as advertised,

Bob

Hitch &amp wiring working fine. Sadly, I have not tried the J-pin yet but do have a target road to see if trailer quiets down.

Product arrived promptly, and as described.
Instruction
sheet has an error, as it shows the Module being mounted in the tail light visible area on my 2013 Chry T&C .
The green wire is too short
Follow the VIDEO (!) ,
except, do not mount the module until you have the right hand tail light sockets done. (and leave handling length !)
The GREEN Wire is too short to do that !
Had to remount the module down below the open area, about 6-8 inches lower in the cavity in order to plug in the sockets on the right side light.
Also found vent flaps from the car jack area, so was able to feed the trailer socket and wire into the jack storage through this vent. Now the trailer plug is inside and only exposed when using a trailer by letting the door weather strip close on the wires.

Used 3/8" flex cover (plastic conduit) from Home Depot so all wires are protected from the heavy winter snow undercarriage we get here up north.

I think it is a very nice kit , and the wire ties included show the good thought that the manufacturer put into it.
Too bad the green wire skimped on length about 6-8 inches

Yes, I found the same thing, the green wire is about 12 too short when installing on a 2013 Grand Caravan. Very annoying.

2014 Chrysler Town and Country

I found the T-One wiring harness for my 2014 Town and Country to be a perfect fit. Some reviews indicated that the green wire going to the right-side rear lamp assembly might be a bit short, but I found that it was more than long enough.

The installation video provided by etrailer is excellent and is a valuable addition to the thorough written instructions provided. The video was most helpful in routing the power wire up to the battery.

I made two small changes to their recommended installation: 1) I used water-proof butt connectors that are heat-shrunk over the positive power supply connections instead of the ones supplied in the kit, and 2) I routed the flat 4-conductor connector up inside to the jack storage compartment. I live in upstate NY and the snow causes extreme environmental issues with connectors exposed on the underside of a vehicle. It's easily accessed when I use my boat trailer.

Total installation time for me was about 1 hour. The most difficult part being routing the power wire along the underside of the vehicle and up to the battery. It's not hard, but just takes a little time to secure it and keep it away from hot exhaust parts and moving parts.

I used a total of about 25 wire ties - all that were included in the kit and some additional ones that I supplied.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with the quality of this product, the ease of installation, and I expect that it will provide me with years of service.

Highly recommended product and supplier. Fast and free shipping (I also ordered the hitch) with email status updates that informed me of exactly what was going on between the time I placed my online order and when the product was delivered. Thanks etrailer!

Robert

I have absolutely no complaints. Your products worked as advertised and I have had no issues with either the hitch or the wiring. Im still a very satisfied customer and should I ever need any trailer parts or accessories in the future, I will surely be a repeat customer of etrailer!

I didn’t like the recommendation to run the power wire under the vehicle all the way to the battery. I think that leaves the wire too exposed. I also didn’t want to leave the trailer plug outside of the vehicle all the time. So, right or wrong, I ran the wires from the converter behind the left taillight into the jack storage area via the vehicle vent behind the jack (had to cut a plastic stiffener). I store the 4-wire plug in there. I ran the power wire under the interior panel up to the sliding door and connected it to the 12v cigarette lighter. Works fine for my utility trailer (2 taillights, 2 running lights).

A powered taillight converter will draw its power from a direct connection to the vehicle battery, but will gain its switching information via its connection to the vehicles taillight harness or tow package connector. Years ago, taillight circuits in vehicles used higher gauge wire and had enough capacity to handle the draw of the vehicle taillights as well as those of the trailer. Now that the price of copper has gone through the roof and vehicle manufacturers try to save all the weight they can, the taillight circuits use smaller gauge wire that can handle the load from the vehicle taillights, but not much else. Drawing the power directly from the battery also serves to isolate the tow vehicles sensitive electronics from any short circuits that might occur in the trailer wiring which is more exposed to the elements. Connecting the converters power feed anywhere other than the battery or where the converters manufacturer recommends can leave your vehicles electrical system exposed to possible damage and will also void the powered converters warranty.

Volkswagen Jetta

I pulled the back panel, and loosened the side panels, plugged the harness in, and hooked up the ground and power wire. I checked with a test light and all circuits worked nicely so I reinstalled the side panels and closed the trunk. This is a NICE harness to hook up and it took me about 45 min to complete the job. Sorry no pictures of the inside of the trunk but most trunk pictures look the same anyway don't they… :-)
I have two small utility trailers that I want to pull with my Jetta and I needed a powered unit to hook up the trailer lights. I did try to use a regular wiring splitter to the trailer lights but it just wouldn't work correctly, and it made warning lights come on in the dash. You know with LED lights on the car, and regular bulbs on the trailer they just don't mix together very well. This wiring harness is a good one and easy to hook up.

What a great product. I hook up the trailer, plugin the wiring, check the lights, and head on down the road. It works perfect every time.

I purchased the Tekonsha wiring harness from E-Trailer after a bad experience with a "multifit" harness from a local auto parts store.

The Tekonsha harness installed easily and worked properly without any modifications. The directions show install of the square module behind the taillight, I found the wiring is long enough to locate this module on the interior of the vehicle out of the elements, just above the power liftgate controller which is behind the jack on the drivers side. I recommend this product.

This has been a great product and served my family well. We do not tow everyday with this vehicle but it is comforting to know that the vehicle side of the trailer lighting connection is squared away. etrailer consistently has delivered quality product at competitive prices, I am a repeat customer.

  • Higher Amperage Rated Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan
Trailer wiring harnesses don't normally short out unless they are getting overdrawn or there is a short on the trailer's wiring. There is a harness available for your 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan that can handle higher amperage draws than the Curt part # C56150 that you have which can handle 3 amps per turn signal circuit and 6 amps for running lights. For that you'd want the # 118534 which is good for 4.2 amps per stop/turn signal and 7.5 amps for the taillights. Also check the trailer's...

It sounds like you might be having some issues with the trailer wiring harness on your 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. If that's the case then the issue is likely within the converter as that is the most common fail point. If you have constant power on the yellow wire which is for the left hand stop/turn signal circuit, test the yellow wire going into the converter from the tail lights. If you don't get constant power here then you know the issue is with the converter and the entire harness...
