Installing Brake Controller on 1995 Dodge Ram

Question:

I have been told there is a Blue wire under the dash that is the brake wire to the rear 7 way connector. Is that so?

Under the dash behind the emergency brake pedal, there is a white box. The port to plug in the brake controller will be above this box. You will need a Brake Controller Wiring Adapter, part # 3020-P which will wire to the controller and plug into this port. If your truck did not come with the factory installed 7-way connector, the wire that carries the brake output from the brake controller port under the dash does not run all the way to the rear of the vehicle. The best place to access the brake controller output wire is under the driver's side of the vehicle, right behind the front wheel well. Look for a wiring connector. As you can see in the FAQ article I've linked for you, there are more wires on the hood side (right side) of the connector than the hitch side. Using a circuit tester, locate the wire that supplies power to the trailer brakes. Usually it is the blue one. Use a quick splice to tap into this wire, and run a length of 10 gauge wire, such as 10-1-1from this blue wire to the back of the vehicle, where it will attach to your trailer connector.

If you click the provided link, you can see an install video.
