Clearance Of Full Size Spare When Installing Curt Trailer Hitch On 2005 Ford Escape
Question:
Hello, 2005 Ford Escape My question relates to fitment of this hitch with a full size spare, the tire under there now is the stock tire which is wider than the spare pictured. Do you think this will fit? Thank you!

The Curt trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 13650, is designed to be installed so that it is below the frame of your 2005 Ford Escape. The photo that shows the spare tire and hitch installed may appear as if it is quite close, but the hitch actually sits lower and will clear the full sized spare tire.
I have linked you to an installation video for this hitch on a 2007 Ford Escape. If you plan on using the hitch for towing I would recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. It comes with 2 balls, 2 ball mounts, a hitch pin with clip, and a carrying bag.
If you are planning on towing and need wiring for your Escape, I would recommend the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, part # 118426. This harness plugs into your existing system and requires no cutting or splicing of your vehicle wiring system. I have linked you to an installation video for this harness.
