No Drill 7-Way Mounting Bracket for a Hidden Hitch and Towing Set Up for a 2022 Outback Premium
Question:
I am gathering parts to install a hitch to my 2022 outback premium. I am looking at this hitch: Item # CU89FR This 4 Pole: Item # 118467 and This 7 way kit: Item # ETBC7L I went through this process ~3 years ago on a rav 4 and used this to mount the 7 way connector: Item # 18136 However, given how this curt item fits the outback tucked up behind the bumper, Im not sure this will work. Are there any brackets that feature a to lower the 7way mount below the bumper? Should I just plan on drilling the 7way bracket to the underside of the plastic bumper? Any other ideas? Thanks!

I would be happy to help you and make a recommendation based on fitment. First of all you won't have to drill into anything to mount your 7-way vehicle connector. All you will need is the Curt Easy Mount Bracket item # C58000. This bolts directly to your 2" x 2" receiver and has an opening for the safety chain loop. I linked an installation video below so you can see how easy this bracket is to install and use along with a picture of the item # ETBC7L installed with it.
I can not find on our website or Curt's website that the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver item CU89FR will fit the Premium model of your 2022 Subaru Outback. I know this is an older obsolete hitch that has been replaced with the item # C67JR which has been confirmed to fit the Premium model. I have linked an installation video below.
The Tekonsha item # 118467 will give you a plug in installation to your factory wiring harness behind the driver's-side trim panel or in the spare tire compartment. You can then use the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit item # ETBC7L to add a 7-Way to your Subaru. This 7-way harness will only work with a brake controller like the Curt Echo item # C51180 because it does not have the brake controller wire. If you need the brake controller wire to install a traditional brake controller you will want the item # ETBC7L.
To round out your towing setup I recommend the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches item # C45534. This towing kit will provide you with a 2" ball and a fixed ball mount with a 3/4" rise and 2" drop. It also includes a hitch pin and clip, hitch receiver lock with keys, hitch cover, and a storage case.
