How to Measure For Replacement Leaf Spring on Boat Trailer  

Question:

Hello,im looking to replace my leaf springs on my boat trailer,my question is i measured the leaf springs with the trailer loaded on the ground and it was 26 3/8inch long,do i need to jack up the trailer and remove the wheel then measure? or do i need to remove the boat to get a measurement?the boat weights in at 2100lbs and has three leafs,thanks for any help

You don't necessarily need to remove your wheel to measure your springs but you definitely need to take the weight off of them. If you're able to jack up the frame of your trailer high enough that the tires are suspended (even if it's just 1/2") that will be good enough to get a measurement for a replacement leaf spring. Leaf springs will expand a little over time and will appear longer when under a load which is why you'll need to do this.

If you let me know what your center-eye to center-eye measurement is as well as the weight capacity of your trailer axle I'll be able to help you out with a replacement from our linked selection although you'll likely need a 26" leaf spring like the part # e22YR for a 4,000 lb axle.
