Parts Needed For Adding a Trailer Hitch Receiver, Wiring and Brake Controller On a 2008 Lincoln MKX

Question:

Good Day, Im looking at the Item # C13067 for my 2008 Lincoln MKX. I understand that I need the wiring. Can I use the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector Item # C55326? If I decide to use a trailer brake system in future, what else is required? Thanks

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13067 is confirmed to fit your 2008 Lincoln MKX. This class III receiver is rated for up to 400lbs of tongue weight and a trailer up to 4,000lbs. Be sure to verify your maximum trailer capabilities with your Lincoln dealer and do not exceed the lower of the limits.

You will need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56329 for your MKX, as the # C55326 you found fits older Ford cars and not your MKX. The Harness # C56329 will give you a 4-way flat connector that is needed with smaller trailers and Auxiliary Lights # C53201 on hitch mounted accessories.

For a trailer with electric brakes you will first need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 on the rear of your MKX. This will allow you to plug in the 4-way you already have and gives you the wiring needed for a charge line and the brake controller line. I recommend then using the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED52VR as it is easy to use and does not take up all of your dash like other controllers. It can be used on trailers with up to 2 braking axles.
