4-Way to 7-Way Solution for Trailer with Reverse Lockout Dexter Disc Brake Actuator

Question:

Hello, I recently installed the Dexter DX7.5 -N-Go Brake Actuator - Disc Brakes - 2 Ball - Zinc Plated - 7,500 lbs - 099-175-20 and the Kodiak disk brake kit. I need to convert the wiring from 4 pin to whatever is needed so I can use the reverse lockout wiring on the actuator. I prefer switching to a 7 pin since my truck is set up that way. What do you recommend? Thanks!

The best way to convert your trailer's 4-way to a 7-way would be with the Epicord 7-way junction box setup part # 277-000141. You'd cut your 4-way connector off and run the wires of your trailer to the correct posts of the junction box. You'd then add the reverse light circuit from the junction box and run it to the reverse lock out solenoid of your actuator # 099-175-20.

You would be able to match the colors of your 4-way wiring to the colors of the posts in the junction box. Once wired the 7-way of this kit would plug right into the 7-way of your tow vehicle.
