Installation of the Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck 90 Degree Wiring Harness
Question:
Will this harness allow me to use the factory or the bed installed 7 prong plug? is this harnes wired directly into the trucks wiring system or is it just an extension cord? Will using this harness adversely effect the trucks computer function, or trailer brake function?

Expert Reply:
The Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck 90 Degree Wiring Harness with 7-Pole Connector, Chevy, Ford, GMC, 9 foot, item # 50-97-410, is designed to plug directly inline with the original factory 7-way connection under your pickup bed. You will retain the use of the 7-way connector at the rear of the vehicle and your electric brakes will function normally on either the rear or in bed mounted connector. Your trucks computer will not be affected by the installation of this connector.
When installing be careful not to break the locking tabs on the connectors so that once you are finished the connectors will stay connected securely. Be sure to route the new harness wiring out of the way of any pinch points, hot areas and moving parts.
