Demco Recon Gooseneck to Fifth Wheel Adapter for Flat Bed Truck with Neckover Bed

Question:

I am buying a used truck with a Neckover bed. It has a fixed gooseneck ball in a recessed well. Neckover is not sure if it is a turnoverinch hitch or where the pin release is. I think the previous owner welded the turnover ball to the mount. My question is .... What 5th wheel could I get that would mount directly to a gooseneck ball? If I cannot get one like that should I mount rails over the well? Thanks!

We have two options for a fifth wheel hitch that attaches to a gooseneck ball and will either fit inside of a recessed well or over the top of it. The Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter for Recessed Ball - Single Jaw - 21,000 lbs item # DM8550046 would sit over the top of your channel. It has a 22" x 22" base and attaches to gooseneck balls that are 13/16" or closer to the top of the truck bed.

The second option is the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter - Single Jaw - 21,000 lbs
Item # DM8550045. It has a 30-1/2" x 28" base and would sit inside your recessed channel and attach directly to your gooseneck ball.

One more option is an adapter that will bolt on the trailer, and allow you to use your gooseneck ball to hook up like Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter item # CAB-C5G.

I do not recommend attaching a rail system to the top of your bed as those are supposed to be bolted directly to the frame of your truck. You will also want to check with Neckover to determine what capacity your gooseneck ball has especially concerning any modifications the previous owner has made.
