Does a Trailer Brake Controller Need Connected On Tekonsha Harness 22114 For Charge Line To Operate?
Question:
Hello, I installed this harness on my 2018 Transit 250. Did not wire in the brake controller harness and am not getting power to the 7-pin. Does the brake controller need to be wired in for the 7-pin to work? I prefer not to use the controller harness as I will not be using a brake controller.

The brake controller harness does not need to be wired in for the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness # 22114 to work on your 2018 Ford Transit T250. There are 2 power wires that must be connected for the rest of the harness to function properly. The red wire from the harness uses a 15amp fuse to the battery and the black wire on the harness uses a 30amp fuse to the battery. The black wire is what carries power for the charge line on the 7-way.
I have included an image of the wiring diagram from the instructions that are linked below. If everything is connected correctly a Test Light # PTW2993 will allow you to test for power along the black wire to the 7-way to determine where power is lost.
