I have a great set of custom rails for your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab. They are the Reese Quick-Install Custom Outboard Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches item # RP56011-53. These installation brackets mount beneath your truck bed to provide attachment points for 5th-wheel rails. The custom brackets mount to existing holes in your truck frame, which minimizes drilling and measuring. These rails are industry standard and can be used to mount any 5th wheel hitch that mounts on industry standard rails. I have linked an installation video.
For your shorter bed you can't go wrong with the Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R20 Slider item # C16541. This sliding hitch has a capacity of up to 20,000 lbs and will provide you extra clearance when making tight turns.
To make towing with a 5th wheel easier I recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector - 10' Long item # C56071 to your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab. This harness puts a 7-way connector in the bed of your truck and allows you to keep the one on your bumper. This makes hooking up to your 5th wheel trailer easier and more convenient.
