Since you have a short bed truck I would not recommend you use a fifth wheel to gooseneck adapter to tow your RV. The problem will be that you will not have enough clearance to make 90 degree turns with the RV because of the lack of clearance between the front of the trailer and the cab of your truck. Some fifth wheel trailers do not recommend the use of adapters so you will want to check the owners manual of the trailer as well.

Honestly the best recommendation I could give you would be to remove your gooseneck hitch, install fifth wheel rails and then use a hitch with a slider like the Curt E5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Roller # 16516 that you referenced.

Then you could use a Curt Spyder Gooseneck Adapter # 16085 if you need to tow a gooseneck trailer when needed. I attached a review video for this product for you to check out also.

For a fifth wheel rail kit for your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 I would recommend the Curt Fifth Wheel Install Kit # C16420-204. I attached an install video and instructions for this product for you to check out also.
