Can The Curt C62VR Wiring Harness Be Used On A 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee With Factory Tow Package
Question:
I ordered the C62VR wiring harness because I thought it didn’t have a factory wiring plug . I was going to return it and get the pigtail harness to tie into the factory plug but watching the installation video it says the vehicle will need to go to the dealer to be programmed. Could I just use the C62VR harness kit ? Thanks

Though it is perfectly fine to use the Curt # C62VR even if your 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee has the factory towing package, I don't necessarily recommend it. Reason being, if your vehicle was set up with that package, it will have wires run that are specific to it. These tie into the vehicle's computers for diagnostics and other technical what have yous, but they are there to make life easier. Something like the Tekonsha # 118384 (whos harnesses I prefer due to them lasting longer) will plug right into a port and will last longer than a non-towing package harness will.
So to sum it all up, can you still use the Curt # C62VR on your Jeep? Yes you can. Do I recommend going with the one to use with your factory tow package even though you might need to have a Jeep dealer active the towing package? Yes I do.
