Thanks for the picture! Yes, the 5th wheel hitch will work but you're going to need a completely different base and rail kit to make the Curt E16 fit in your 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD with a 6 1/2' bed. To mount your 5th wheel in your Silverado you will need the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC - Carbide Finish item # C16418-204. These custom brackets mount beneath your truck bed to provide an attachment point for industry standard rails. I have linked an installation video.

With your short bed you're going to need a slider. I recommend the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Roller - Slide Bar Jaw - 16,000 lbs item # 16516. The non-binding slider provides clearance that is required for your short-bed Silverado to turn safely at slow speeds. The roller travels 12" front to back it prevents the trailer from hitting the cab of your truck during sharp, slow-speed turns. The E16 has a gross towing weight of 16,000 lbs a vertical load limit of 4,000 lbs and a hitch height of 14"-17".

If you're interested in putting a 7-way connector in the bed of your truck for easy access and hookup I recommend the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector - 7' Long item # C56070. This gives you a connector in the bed of your Silverado and allows you to keep the one on your bumper.
