Does 20k Capacity Reese M5 Fifth Wheel Hitch Have Enough Capacity to Tow RV with GVWR of 16,800 lb

Question:

Hello. Out of the two 5th wheel RVs were looking at, one has a GVWR of 16,800 lbs and a hitch weight of 2,794 lbs. Would the 20k hitch suit our needs? Would it be strong enough? Thank you!

Yes, the 20k capacity of the Reese M5 part # RP30921 that you referenced would easily be enough to tow an RV that weighs 16,800 lbs at most. You'd have plenty of capacity to spare so there would be no need to go with the 27k model part # RP30922 instead unless you thought you'd end up towing a trailer that weighed more than 20k.
