The Tekonsha # 22292 is a plug in wiring adapter that will work with your 2010 Ford F-150, if your truck already has a 4-pole or a 7-way wiring system that can be be used with a brake controller.
If your truck currently has a factory installed 7-way then you can plug the # 22292 wiring adapter into the wiring harness located in the dash of your truck and then, after routing the other end of the wiring adapter under the dash, you can plug it into the brake controller.
If your truck does not have a factory installed 7-way then you can use the # 37185 to convert your trucks existing 4-pole to a 7-way in order to use a brake controller. To install this adapter you will need to locate the trucks existing 4-pole and the wiring harness associated with this 4-pole. The wiring harness is usually located on the drivers side of the truck near the rear bumper, then continue to hard wire the adapter using the trucks wiring.
On the # 37185 the white wire will be your ground and make sure that it is properly grounded to a metal surface. The blue wire is for the brake signal from the brake controller to the 7-way, the black wire carries the 12-volt accessory wire, and the purple wire is for the reverse lights. These wires will be connected to the truck existing wiring located on driver side of the vehicle near the rear.
After you have located the trucks rear wiring harness then you can complete the install of the adapter by hardwiring to the truck wiring. You may need to remove some of the wiring loom to access these wires. I would advise that you use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 and verify the functions of each of the wires before connecting to them.
You will connect the blue wire on the # 37185 to the blue and white wire on your truck. Then connect the black wire to the red or orange wire (12-volt) on the truck. Lastly, the purple wire is for reverse lights (if your trailer is equipped with them), and this wire is connected to the reverse light wire behind one of the taillights. If you do not have trailer reverse lights, you can tape it up out of the way.
After connecting to the trucks existing wiring, I would advise taping up the connections with electrical tape and replace the wiring loom.
I have included a helpful article that shows this wiring.
I would recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 brake controller # 90085, it is a proportional brake controller. It also has a 360-degree range for mounting, as well as a digital display with continual diagnostics.
The # 3065-P that you mentioned above is not considered a fit for your vehicle.
I have included links to the part referenced above, a video, and a helpful article for you.
