Gas Strut with Exceptional Stability
Most gas struts consist of a tube filled with pressurized nitrogen gas, a piston, and rod. The Atlas Lift strut, however, has a dynamic damping groove inside the tube that regulates gas movement across the piston. This ensures your tool box lid, bed cover, or boat hatch stays open when you want it open and shuts slowly without bouncing or slamming. Lastly, in contrast to struts that only have gas in the chamber, a few drops of oil have been mixed in to help seal the piston and lubricate the rod. This allows your lid to move more smoothly as the rod travels in and out of the tube.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a brief look together at this universal gas strut. Now this universal gas strut is going to replace a worn out or damaged strut anywhere you are going to need it. So this is gonna be perfect for use on your toolbox lid, truck bed cover, or boat hatch. And the dampening groove inside the tube is going to prevent bouncing, giving you a smooth operation in any temperature and extending the rod from the tube to keep the lid or the door open that you are going to use this to replace on.
And then it's going to compress slowly to allow that lid to close gently without it slamming shut. The internal wiper is going to prevent sticking. It's gonna reduce friction by lubricating this rod with oil. And the black powder coated steel tube and nitride coated rod are all going to be rust resistant. And this is gonna be a quick installation.
The ball socket ends are going to connect directly to the hardware on the item that you are needing to replace the gas strut on. And let me go ahead and lay this down and just give you some overall measurements. So I wanna give you the extended length and I'm gonna be measuring center of socket to center of socket. As you can see, we're sitting right at a foot long on the extended length. That compressed length is gonna be 8 and 1/16 inches and the stroke is going to be 3 and 13/16 inches.
And then in regards to the compression in force pounds, this is going to be 21 to 31 pounds, and in Newton's, 93 to 138 Newtons. You will get this one lift support, but it's always good to replace your struts in pairs where applicable. Most struts should be replaced in pairs depending on what you're replacing this on, because failure to replace both struts, if you have two struts there originally, could result in a warp or damage hinge. This does have a limited lifetime warranty. And I think that's gonna wrap up our brief look today.

These worked fine during warm weather, however, when it got cold they quit working and would not hold nor lift the glass lid. These have been replaced with factory units.
just took longer then expected .
So far so good. We will see if they last another winter here in Colorado. The struts we have had in the past seem to fail in the winter time.
