Best 5th Wheel Hitch for 2022 GMC Sierra 3500 Short Bed With Factory Puck System

I have a 2022 GMC Sierra 3500 Short Bed with the factory puck system. Which 5th wheel hitch is recommended? My 5th wheel has a gross weight rating of slightly over 15K.

Unless your 5th wheel has the concaved-in front edges to provide additional clearance to the truck cab during turns (there are some 5th wheels out there that are specifically designed like that) you wouldn't want to use a stationary hitch like the B&W # BWRVK3710 Companion you'd looked at because it wouldn't offer the proper clearance between the front corners of the 5th wheel trailer loft and the rear of the truck cab. You'd end up striking the corners of the 5th wheel against the cab and damaging both.
Instead, I'd recommend the sliding version of the GM puck system-compatible B&W Companion which is part # BWRVK3775. The Companion uses massive 1 inch thick jaws that hold the 5th wheel king pin very tightly which prevents the king pin from moving around in the jaws which causes a great deal of rattling and banging. The hitch head is fully articulating and is dampened by polyurethane bushings which also improves your ride quality. Finally, the cam action latching handle prevents the hitch from binding up which can happen when you park on uneven terrain.
If you'd like to install a 7-way trailer connector in the truck bed so you don't have to run the trailer connector cable up over the tailgate, you can do so using part # C56000.
