Do Bearings Need to be Repacked With Bearing Buddy
Question:
When using Bearing Buddies, one of your experts recommend: 1 The same 12,000 mile remove and repack bearing service, while others say: 2 No further re + re bearing service is needed as long as seals are intact and grease levels are maintained. If answer #1 is correct, why use Bearing Buddies? I have a 2011 Interstate 18foot Cargo tandem axle trailer. Thank you!

There is no need to further re-pack the bearings with the Bearing Buddies like the Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors - Model 2441 - Chrome Plated (Pair) # BB2441.
So long as you maintain the grease levels, repacking the bearings isn't necessary, like you mentioned. You'll just add grease, and they have an automatic pressure-relief feature to prevent overfilling, as grease will seep around the edges when they are full.
In regard to the correct fit of Bearing Buddies on your trailer, while there isn't a way to confirm a fit for them on specific trailers, you can confirm the right Bearing Buddies by measuring the hub bores on your trailer's hubs using a digital caliper, and matching your hub bore diameter to the correct Bearing Buddies.
For example, the Bearing Buddy # BB2441 is for a 2.441" hub bore and the Bearing Buddy # BB1980A-SS is for a 1.980" hub bore. I have added a link below to our entire selection of Bearing Buddies which you can filter through by hub bore size when you know yours.
