Can Curt Class I Hitch with 2 Inch Adapter Hold a Honda Grom on 2015 Mazda 3
Question:
I saw in the specs that the tongue weight is 200 pounds. My purpose for this hitch is to be adapted to a 2 inch hitch so that I can add a motorcycle carrier which will hold a Honda Grom. The carrier is about 50+ pounds and the Honda Grom comes in at about 230 pounds. Will this set up work for my needs? Thanks!

You are correct, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11377 has a maximum gross tongue weight of 200 lbs. Since you are already at 230 lbs this will not work for your needs. In addition to this, you were wanting to use a 1-1/4" to 2" adapter like the MaxxTow Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter # HTAD. Using an adapter like this reduces capacity by 50 percent, leaving the hitch with a 100 lbs tongue weight capacity.
In order to be able to carry your Honda Grom with your 2015 Mazda 3 I recommend the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7305. This hitch has a maximum gross trailer weight of 2,000 lbs and maximum tongue weight of 300 lbs. It also has a 2" receiver opening so there will be no need for an adapter.
