Differences Between Curt Hitches Available for 2019 Jeep Cherokee

Question:

Hello. I have a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Overland trim. I was wondering if I should order this hitch #C13171 or the other hitch # C13395. I am confused as both say they are compatible with my Jeep, but they have a different structure. What is the difference between them? Do either of them require lowering of the exhaust or modification of the trim/bumper? Does one have the receiver part sit lower to the ground? Thank you

Both the Curt # C13395 and # C13171 Class III hitches fit all models of the 2019 Cherokee, including your Overland model.

The # C13171 would be fully visible once installed, while the # C13395 would have the hitch crossbar tucked up behind the bumper, with the receiver tube and the safety chain loops being the only part of the hitch that will be visible from the rear of the vehicle.

As you can see in the side-by side install photos I provided, the # C13395 also sits up tighter against the rear bumper for about an inch more ground clearance. Some trimming of the lower fascia panel might be required on Tralhawk models, but as you can see in the linked videos, we didn't need to do any trimming. A portion of the exhaust did need to be temporarily unbolted and removed as shown in the video for the
# C13395 hitch.

I personally prefer the cleaner look of the # C13395, and that's what I'd recommend.
