Troubleshooting Trailer Lights Wiring Harness For a 2019 Prius LE Front Wheel Drive

Question:

I have a 2019 Toyota Prius LE. When using the etrailer web site to the proper wiring harness for trailer lights I needed to pick the style of the vehicle. The two choices were: AWDe or FWD. Does FWD stand for Front Wheel Drive or Four Wheel Drive? My car is Front Wheel Drive. The FWD ion indicates that I should order a C56353 which I did. It was delievered on July 31. I installed it but the trailers brake lights and running lights do not work. The turn signals do work. When I was reading the powered Converter Lead Instruction Sheet I noticed a paragraph near the bottom of the sheet which states: If using the converter as a powered module for a two wire system, the red brake wire must be grounded.inch Does this mean I need to connect a separate ground wire to the red brake wire or is the brake wire already grounded through the module? If I need to add a ground wire do I connect it directly to the red brake wire? Any advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

FWD will stand for front wheel drive.

The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56353 is the correct harness for your 2019 Prius LE front wheel drive. It sounds like the connector that mounts behind your bumper is not connected properly. This connecter is where the powered converter gets its signal for the brake lights and running lights. This is step 12 of the instructions that I have linked below for you to reference.

You will not need to connect the red wire to ground as you will have a 3 wire system on your Prius.
