Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Brake Controller Troubleshooting Connection With 2005 Ford F-150
Question:
When attempting to pair the brake controller to the trailer using my 2005 F150, I get a flashing communication error CE. I go thru the steps on the instructions and I get a flashing PA message. After a minute, the PA stops and reverts back to flashing CE. When I use it with my 2012 VW Touareg the controller pairs with no problem to the trailer. What have i missed?

It sounds like you may have a short in your wiring system on your 2005 Ford F-150. I recommend using a Circuit Tester # PTW2992 to test the 7-way vehicle connector. Inside the 7-way it is going to be the blade that is in the 1 o'clock position. with the ignition on it should be receiving battery power. Be sure to also check the ground terminal in the 7 o'clock position for a good ground connection.
If you do not have power you will want to check the fuse in the engine compartment location 106. This should be a 30 amp fuse.
You can also check the terminals inside the 7-way with a Multimeter # PT89ZR to determine if any of the circuits are shorting out with each other. You will set the multimeter to check for any continuity between your power wires. This will indicate a damaged wire in the circuit or a damaged 7-way. You can remove the connector on the 7-way and repeat the test on the connector to verify if it is in the wiring or a new 7-Way # A10-7072VP is needed.
