Hello, I have a 2017 Land Cruiser that I want to use occasionally to tow my 25foot pontoon boat. The boat on trailer weighs in at 6400lbs and tow cap on LC is 8100. So Im good there. But the trailer has surge brakes and I want to verify that I can use this hitch on my boat trailer, know that the surge brakes will still work, Ill be able to back up the trailer and into the water with everything connected. Can anyone verify this or point me to another product that meets my needs? Thank you!

The Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution Hitch # C17501 you were looking at will allow you to back up with it still connected, and will work with the surge brake coupler on your 25' pontoon boat trailer, but this hitch is likely overrated for your boat. This hitch is designed to work with tongue weights between 1000-1500lbs and since your pontoon boat and trailer only weighs 6400lbs you are more than likely looking at 640-900lbs of tongue weight.

You will however need to confirm the tongue weight of your boat to be sure. Using a tongue weight scale like the etrailer # e99044 will be the easiest way to get an accurate tongue weight measurement, but there are other methods outlined in the included help article.

If you are in the 640-900lb range mentioned above then I recommend going with the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Round - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW # FA94-00-1000 instead as it works with tongue weights between 600-1000lbs. This hitch is also compatible with backing up and surge brakes.

The # FA94-00-1000 does not include a hitch ball so you will need either 2" hitch ball or 2-5/16" hitch ball # 19286 to match the coupler on your trailer.

Lastly if your trailer has a pole tongue, you will need pole tongue adapter # EQ95-01-5950 as well.

If you find your tongue weight is not between 600-1000lbs just let me know.
