Recommended Bike Rack That Will Not Have Clearance Issues Installed On BMW 440i W/ Curt Hitch
Question:
Doesnt any manufacturer e.g.Maxxhaul make a 4inch hitch riser that is 1 1/4inch to 1 1/4? I have a 1 1/4inch receiver Curt hitch for a BMW 440i, which I purchased from etrailer. When a a 1 1/4inch Thule T2 Pro XT is mounted to the car, the bike rack being too close to the ground. I need to raise the receiver by about 4inch but can only find risers that are 1 1/4inch to 2inch conversions. Thanks

I have a replacement bike rack option for you, but there is not a rise adapter for 1-1/4". The reason for this is since using an adapter reduces the capacities of the hitch by 50% using the adapter would reduce the ratings of the hitch so low it would be virtually unusable.
Since your Thule T2 Pro XT already has a shank with a rise for more clearance, the only option would be changing to a hanging style rack to get the additional clearance you need.
I recommend the Thule Camber 2 Bike Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting - Steel # TH9058 which accommodates two bikes weighing up to 37.5lbs each, and since there is not platform you will not have clearance issues.
I included a video of the # TH9058 for you to take a look at.
