Recommended Replacement Equalizer For Trailer W/ 6-1/8 Long Equalizers
Question:
Hello, I found excessive wear in the upper hole on the equalizer, thinking of replaceing it alone or a kit. My camper rating is 7000 gvwr, has dual axles 2.375inch dia. , 33inch o.c. apart. the current equalizer is stamped TE-HA1 brazil. Does the treq356 have bronze bushings or nylon, and is its rating compatable with the load of my camper? Do you sell the bolts separately as they will also be worn, they are 9/16inch x3. My equalizer is 6-1/8inch apart between bottom holes and 2-1/2 inch high, however My system has all the measurements needed for the k71-359-00 except for the width of the equalizer which is 5-3/4inch so Im unsure what affect it will have with current springs if i buy that kit, so My thoughts are to replace the equalizer with the treq356 and if I find excessive wear at the spring attachment points try to replace the bolts and bushings and deal with it separately, but definitely would be smart to just replace the whole thing. any advice is surely appreciated. thanks,

I would be happy to help!
The Curved Equalizer for 1-3/4" Wide Double-Eye Springs - 6-1/8" Long - 9/16" Center Hole # TREQ356 you were looking at will be an exact replacement for your current equalizers as they have the same 6-1/8" length and 2-1/2" height as shown in the included diagram.
The # TREQ356 includes nylon bushings. If you would rather have bronze bushings you can use two of the # K71-291-00.
Now the Dexter Heavy-Duty Suspension Kit for Tandem-Axle Trailers - 1-3/4" Wide Double Eye Springs # K71-359-00 you mentioned does have equalizers that are 1/2 shorter so they would not be an exact replacement, though they would likely not cause any issues.
I recommend sticking with the # TREQ356 as it is the exact size of your current equalizers. For replacement bolts you can use the Shackle Bolt with Locknut for Double-Eye Springs - 3" Long # 166081 for a standard bolt, or # 126B2 for greaseable wet bolts. I recommend going ahead and replacing all of the bolts as you are seeing wear already. You will need 14. This equalizer will be plenty strong for your camper with tandem 3500lb axles and a 7000lb GVWR.
I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
