What is the difference between load ranges on trailer tires? Specifically, C compared to D? I have a single axle 12 flatbed with 15 tires.

The difference between load ranges varies based on the tire size and brand. When comparing two tires of the same size and brand, a load range D tire will always have a greater weight capacity and psi rating than a load range C.

However, when comparing two dissimilar tires, such as a size 145/80-12 tire and a size 185/80-13 tire, the load ranges will not correlate with one another. For example, a load range D tire in size 145/80-12 has an average capacity of 1,220 lbs, while a load range C tire in size 185/80-13 has an average capacity of 1,480 lbs. So, in this case, the load range C tire has a greater capacity than the load range D tire. It's best to check the weight capacity of an individual tire to compare between load ranges.

Our 15” diameter tires in load ranges C and D come in two different sizes.

For a 205/75-15 tire in load range C, I recommend the Provider Radial Trailer Tire, # TTWTRTM2057515C. This tire has a weight capacity of 1,820 lbs and includes a 2-year warranty.
