2018 Subaru Outback w/ Factory Rack Thule Hullavator Pro Compatibility

I have a Subaru Outback 2018 and want to purchase the Thule Hullavator Pro Lift Assist. It is my understanding that I will also need to buy additional crossbars. Which crossbars do I need to purchase?

In order to use the Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier and Lift Assist with Tie-Downs, part # TH898. you will need an aftermarket rack. You will have to remove the crossbars on your vehicle and the rack will attach to those points.

I recommend the Yakima 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon Roof Rack. This rack includes; the Yakima HD Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 55" Long, part # Y01156, the RidgeLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars - Flush Side Rails - Qty 4
part number, part # Y00145, the HD Bar SL Adapter for Yakima BaseLine, SkyLine, TimberLine, and RidgeLine Towers - Qty 4, part # Y03541, and the Yakima Same Key System (SKS) Lock Cores (QTY 4), part # Y07204.

In order to use the Hullavator your bars will have to extend beyond the towers. This Yakima system has 55" bars that extend approximately 4" beyond the tower on each side of your vehicle. The Hullavator is also compatible with the Yakima bars. With this rack you are getting elliptical shaped bars that reduce wind noise and will help your with gas mileage. The weight limit of this rack is 165lbs. That is the weight of the rack, the accessories, and the items you carry on the roof. The last piece are the locks that secure your rack to the vehicle.

What you can do is use the safety chain loops on the EcoHitch part #306-X7601 for your 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon as a recover point if the factory recovery point was clocked.
