Can I Use the TorkLift Cannon with a Weight Distribution Hitch

Question:

Hello, the specs state to use weight distribution to utilize the upper capacities, but no recommendation is given for a torklift WD. I will be using this under a truck camper to get the hitch out, and connect to a 20 foot cargo trailer. This means any WD will go from trailer A frame to the hitch. Which WD should I use with the Cannon?

The weight distribution hitch you'll want to use will depend on the GVWR and tongue weight of your cargo trailer; you ideally have a WDH that the tongue weight of your trailer falls right in the middle of the range. Assuming that you tow the maximum that the Torklift Cannon # TLE1642 will allow (660-lbs TW/6600-lbs GVWR), something like the Curt Trunnion Style Weight Distribution System w/ Shank - 1K TW, 10K GTW # C24UR would be a good choice. This system will fit in the Cannon when you use the 2" sleeve reducer that is included. If your loaded tongue weight of the trailer is typically less than 500-lbs there might be a different system that could be used, so let me know if that is the case.

This WDH will allow you to tow the maximum allowable with the Cannon and give you reliable weight distribution that can be used on a cargo trailer. You may need to install some bolt/weld on chain hangers like the Chain Hangers for Reese Weight Distribution Systems - Bolt On # RP58305 if your cargo trailer frame is wider than 2-3/4" wide, which will give you a point on the trailer to connect the chains.

I've linked some review videos of these parts for you to check out.
