Rear Hitch for 2016 Keystone Cougar X-Lite Fifth Wheel

Question:

We want to add a hitch to the back of our fifth wheel to be able to haul a 17.5 ft. Lund fishing boat. Will you please advise me as to what is the best hitch to purchase?

Hitches for the back of trailers are not custom made to each trailer make and model, but are mostly universal fit. These hitches will bolt or weld on your your existing trailer frame, so you will first need to know what the width between your frame beams is, and what towing capacity your trailer manufacturer recommends. (Many are not rated for towing, even if they put a hitch back there, it is usually for hitch accessories - not towing.)

I have attached a link showing all of our RV & Camper Hitches. On this page you can see what widths they are available in, how they are attached, and what their towing capacity is. One of the popular options is the Curt # 13701. It is a Class-3 Hitch that can be attached on frame beams measuring 18 to 51 inches wide.

You will want to check the owner's manual for your Cougar as well to make sure that you do not exceed it's towing weight capacity. I would also check the Highway Patrol for any special double-tow rules, especially total length.
