Will the B&W Companion Work With Sidewinder On 2018 Ram 3500 with RamBox

Question:

Hello: I currently have a Ram 3500, 6.5foot bed and Ramboxes with a gooseneck in the bed. I current pull 40foot 5th wheel trailer has been converted to a gooseneck by removing the 5th wheel pinbox and installing the Reese box. My turning radius is limited, the long pinbox makes contact with the bedrails. So I was looking to get a fifth wheel hitch that I can put into my current Gooseneck, so I do not need to drill more holes in my bed and make my life easier. I was watching your video and noticed it said do NOT use the BandW companion gooseneck to fifth wheel hitch. So my question is is it only that hitch or can I not use a 5th wheel hitch that s into my gooseneck with the sidewinder? I would REALLY prefer using the current gooseneck hitch/truck adapter , BandW purchased from you and installed by me, to make my life easier and keeping my truck bed untouched. Second question is there a 20k sidewinder hitch WITH airbag or shocks for a better ride? I could not find it, I only see the standard version. Looking to maybe step up to a 43foot triple axle so want the strongest/best I can find. Any help would be appreciated as I need to order a fifth wheel as well as the Sidewinder Thank you in advance,

I do have an option for you but in order to tow a fifth wheel trailer using a truck with RamBox like a 2018 Ram 3500, you'll have to go with a pin box with rotating turret as that's the only way to clear the bed sides. Pin boxes with rotating turrets like the Reese Sidewinder cannot be used with gooseneck to fifth wheel adapters like the B&W Companion. Therefore, the only option would be a new fixed fifth wheel hitch. I recommend the Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30928 with Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit part # RP50085-58.

The 5th Airborne Premium 5th Wheel Air Ride King Pin w/ Sidewinder is only offered in 16,000 lbs so you'll have to go with the Reese Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin part # RP34FR assuming you have the Lippert 1621 pattern.
