Need access to your attic to grab luggage for an upcoming trip or unbox decorations for the holiday season? Or perhaps your houseguest needs to crash on the spare bed in your loft? This telescopic ladder has an adjustable, spring-loaded design and a release mechanism that makes it easy to extend and retract. When you need entry into your attic, loft, or other higher-up space, tug on the included cord to pull the ladder down. Then lift the ladder off of the retainer bar and slide it down to the ground at a 75-degree angle. The ribbed silicone feet ensure the ladder stays in place and keeps you safe while you're climbing up and down. When you are finished, simply retract the ladder, hook it back onto the retainer bar, and push the ladder and attic door up.
Easy, Bolt-On Installation
This ladder easily attaches to the door of your attic or the ledge of your upstairs loft with the included mounting hardware, mounting plate, and retainer belts. You will also need a piano hinge, which is not included. And this ladder will need at least 22-1/2" x 37" mounting clearance between the joists in your ceiling.

Unless you have installed one before (and who has?) there will be some trial and error to see what works best. Also, the frame holes where the lag screws go (which need #3 square drive bits - not mentioned in the directions) are in awkward locations such that they can't easily be accessed without the ladder being repositioned.
All this being said, once the unit is installed properly and safely it operates flawlessly. So I can recommend it.
(Also note the warning labels on the ladder incorrectly state "loose your balance" instead of correctly "lose your balance" - that's really poor English!)
This is an excellent ladder system for a limited access area. It does not require the additional length needed for a traditional folding ladder attic access. This was installed in a 7’x10’ closet with wire shelving on three sides. This ladder access will allow for storage space in the attic area and easier maintenance of the HVAC unit in the attic. This was installed on a 9’ ceiling.
Can leave ladder extended straight down when not immediately using and is totally out of the way against the wall. Very useful and far better as an attic ladder than the old fold down types.
Delivered as expected in first class co ndition

This product is working out well so far, mostly. Our only issue was that the retaining straps broke and had to be replaced. These are the fabric straps that hold the retracted ladder against the door while closing. Other than that, it works well.
