Did Ram Change the Fifth Wheel Tow Prep Puck System for the 2020 Model Year

Question:

I just purchased a 2020 RAM 2500 with 5th wheel prep. Has the system changed over the year? Or can I get a hitch for 2018 and it will fit?

The positioning of the factory fifth wheel installation pucks in your 2020 Ram 2500 has not changed since its inception. Side to side center to center, the pucks will be 39 inches apart. Front to back, center to center will measure 30-3/8 inches.

In other words, a fifth wheel hitch that will fit the factory pucks on a 2018 Ram 2500 will also fit a 2020 model.

The B&W Companion # BWRVK3600 for long bed trucks or # BWRVK3670 for short bed trucks and the Curt A series, part # C16044 for long beds or # C16541 paired with the # C16022 adapter for sort beds are two of our most often recommended hitches for the Ram truck with the factory prep package.

A large portion of the ride quality (or lack thereof) you experience when fifth wheel towing comes from how well the fifth wheel's king pin is gripped in the hitch jaws. B&W uses a 1 inch thick jaw in the Companion that grips the king pin very tightly, providing a mainly rattle and bang free ride. The Curt A series uses a thinner jaw, but the jaw interlocks, providing 360° contact all the way around the king pin's circumference which also leads to a smooth ride.

If you don't already have one, you can install a 7-way in your truck bed using part # 50-97-410.

I've linked so some videos featuring the products I've recommended.
