Is Stabilizer Strap Needed for Bike Rack with Curt Class I # C11393 on 2011 Mazda 3 Sedan
Question:
I wanted to see if this hitch requires a stabilizer strap. I see that some do and some do not. Id prefer a hitch that does not require stabilizer straps Thank you!

The provisions of the Curt Class I # C11393 hitch warranty requires the use of a stabilizing strap like part # 18050 for non-trailer loads like a cargo carrier or bike rack.
Keep in mind, the hitch manufacturers punch a stop into the receiver tube of a Class I hitch that will prevent the shank of Class II accessory from being used. This is done because a Class I hitch has a limited tongue weight capacity (maximum amount of weight that can be safely suspended from the receiver) when compared to a Class II. Because of this lower capacity, you will need to use a class I compatible bike rack and you will be limited to carrying two bikes on any rack used in a class I receiver.
