How to Determine Which Replacement Wheel Studs Are Needed

Question:

I have a snowmobile trailer and need to wheel studs and lug nuts and not sure of the size. They have a 5 on 4-1/2inch Bolt Pattern. Trailer weight capacity is probably 2000-2500 lbs the trailer is a couple hours away at the moment and hoping to get parts to fix it without a separate trip to find out sizes.

I couldn't be 100% positive about which wheel studs you'd need without seeing the trailer and being able to measure. I just don't have enough information.

This bein said, by virtue of the trailer having a 5 on 4-1/2 inch wheel bolt pattern, you likely have a 3000-3500 lb axle which would typically use a 1/2 inch wheel stud with 20 threads per inch. In order to recommend the correct replacement, I'll need to know the thread diameter, the length of the stud, the length of the splined portion of the stud, the base length and the diameter of the splined portion.

Unfortunately, really the only way to get this info would be to drive one of the wheel studs out and measure it with a digital caliper like # PTW80157.

I've provided a diagram showing the relevant dimensions I need. The dimensions shown are for the
# 7-122 wheel stud.

Barring this, if you have the manufacturer name, model number of the trailer and the VIN and you could provide me with that information, I might be able to determine which hubs were used on the trailer. I wouldn't be able to determine which wheel studs were used, but you could swap out the hubs which would provide new wheel studs.
