Yes. In order to carry 4 bikes on your 2016 Volvo XC90 you would need to add a hitch and use a hitch mounted bike rack, but we do have the parts you'll need to accomplish this. I recommend using the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13233, which will provide you with a 2" hitch that provides you with the best selection of hitch mounted accessories and also will be helpful if you ever need to tow anything in the future. Curt hitches also have a thicker powder coating on them which helps with durability, and will help keep your hitch in good shape over time.
For a bike rack, the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # HR1400Z is a great choice and what I recommend. The Sport Rider SE tilts away from the vehicle to allow access to the rear cargo area and folds up against the vehicle for storage when not in use, plus it comes with locks for the rack and the bikes included.
To carry kids bikes with 16" or 18" wheels on the # HR1400Z you will need to use the Kids Bike Wheel Hoop Adapters for Hollywood Racks Sport Rider Bike Rack - Qty 2 # HRSW-ADP-2, and frame adapter bars like the # 64005 might be necessary for any bikes that have aggressive step through frames.
I've linked some review videos of these parts for you to have a look at. I've also linked our entire selection of bike racks capable of carrying 4 bikes for you to check out in case you're looking for something a bit different.
