Weight Distribution System for Trailer that Weighs 300 lbs

Question:

I have a 1973 Jet Travel Trailer. The Tow vehicle will be a 1991 Chevy Astro. I am trying to determine the tongue weight using CAT scales. My weighs were as follows: TV and TT Combined TV without TT Steer Axle: #3040 #3200 Drive Axle: #2800 #2340 Trailer Axle: #3220 0 Gross Weight: #8160 #5540 I was told that if I add the TV/TT steer and drive axles together then subtract the TV gross weight I get tongue weight 3040+2800-5540=300. Based on this my Dry tongue weight is #300, correct? Assuming this calculation is correct, would the Husky Center Line Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - Trunnion - 6,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW Item # HT32215 work with this setup?

The Husky kit you mentioned would be rated too high since your setup has a 300 lb tongue weight and it has a range of 400-600 lbs. This would cause you to have a pretty harsh ride quality.

So instead the best option is the Fastway e2 kit part # FA92-00-0450 which has a tongue weight range of up to 450 lbs.
