Weight Distribution for a 2006 Toyota Highlander and 2,300 Pound Trailer

I have a 2006 Toyota highlander awd 6cy towing a trailer 2300lbs, 310gtw what wdh do you recommend and do you recommend electric brakes

First, I recommend looking at the owners manual and hitch for your 2006 Toyota Highlander to make sure that both can be used with weight distribution.

To choose a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight of the set up. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer, when loaded and ready to tow, and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.

For a tongue weight of 310 pounds the 450 pound Fastway system, # FA92-00-0450, would work well. You will also need a ball such as # 40038 for a 2 inch ball. This system can be used on a trailer with electric brakes. If the trailer does not already have electric brakes you can add them.
