5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Options for a 2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty FX4 Crew Cab

Hello i own a 2006 ford f250 superduty crew cab fx4. Im looking into purchasin a fifth wheel rv but i need to know my limits as in tounge weight so i wont exceed my rear axle weight rating6100lb and my gross combined weight rating10000lb. Also im not sure if some of the king pin weight is distributed to the front axle5200lb rating. Please help!

The capacities of the truck for towing, tongue, payload, and others are listed in the owners manual. What you can do is take the gross vehicle weight rating as listed on the label in the door jamb and subtract the empty weight of the truck. What remains is how much the truck can carry including cargo and passengers.
The capacity in the truck bed is likely going to be high enough for most any 5th wheel trailer. On a 5th wheel trailer, the center of the king pin when connected to the trailer will be slightly forward of the centerline of the rear axle. This puts the majority of the trailer pin weight on the rear axle. Some weight, though not nearly as much as is on the rear axle, may be transferred forward but it will not exceed the front axle capacity.
If you have a short bed truck, you will need to have a slider 5th wheel hitch in order to safely make sharp turns in places like camp grounds or making a standard right turn at an intersection as examples. The slider hitch can slide back, temporarily, to allow more clearance between the truck cab and the trailer overhang so they do not collide and damage both.
To start with, you will need an installation kit. Custom kits install the quickest and require no drilling into the truck frame. For your truck, short or long bed, you can use # RP50082-58. I have linked instructions and a video for you.
For a hitch there are several options depending on the weight of the trailer and if you have a short or long bed. I have included a link to the 5th wheel hitch main page for your truck, just select your bed size to see the options. Hitches with dual jaws and 4-way pivoting heads are good all around hitches. If you need to go with a slider, a round tube slider offers the most travel and thus clearance to make tight turns.
You will also need a wiring harness for the bed of the truck. If the truck came with a factory 7-Way trailer connector in the back, then you can use # 20140. If your truck has no connector or a different connector let me know and I can make other recommendations.
