Which Bike Rack and Trailer Hitch on 2019 Hyundai Ioniq
Question:
Hello! I have a Hyundai Ioniq hybrid SE non electric/plug in. I just have 2 questions. This trailer hitch will ONLY be used to mount a bike rack no towing or anything. 1. Do I need any accessories to install a bike rack? Or would just buying either one of the Tite Trailer Hitch # 24963 or Curt Trailer Hitch # C11486 work? 2. My bike is a 41 lb bike just above the 40 lb threshold for the Kuat Beta - Folding 2-Bike Aluminum Rack # B202-114 which youve recommended in the previous thread. Do you have any suggestions for a 1 or 2 bike rack with a higher weight limit? Thank you!

Either the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 24963 or the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11486 will fit onto your 2019 Hyundai Ioniq Non Electric/plugin with no additional accessories. I recommend Draw-Tite # 24963 as it not only looks very low profile when installed with only the Receiver showing as shown in the picture I've attached, it also can be used without a support strap where the Curt # C11486 recommends using Curt Cam Buckle Stabilizing Strap # 18050 when using a bike rack.
You are correct that the Kuat Beta - Folding 2-Bike Aluminum Rack part B202-114 has a weight Capacity of 40lbs per Bike, or 80lbs Total Weight Capacity. I Recommend the Thule T2 Classic 2 Bike Platform Rack part # TH9045 as it has quite a few great features including being able to tilt with just pressing a lever to access your hatch, Includes the hitch lock to secure the rack to your vehicle, and has the carrying capacity you are looking for with a total weight capacity of 100 lbs, and a single bike capacity of 60 lbs. You can also add the locking cylinders to secure your bikes to the rack with part # TH450200
A single bike option is RockyMounts HighNoon FC Solo Bike Rack for 1 Bike - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # RKY87RR which offers a light option at 29lbs carrier weight, while still having a weight capacity of 60lbs. The RockyMounts HighNoon FC Solo # RKY87RR also includes both bike and hitch locks, to keep your rack and bike secured and will even work if your bike has fenders.
I have attached videos to each of the Bike Racks mentioned, and install videos for both the Curt Hitch # C11486 and Draw-Tite # 24963.
